Shatha Alsaidan (b. 1987) is currently based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitation Science and a Master’s degree in Management. She worked in the rehabilitation field for 11 years and now serves as a health strategist in the transformational sector. Alsaidan began her artistic practice at an early stage. In 2009, she used photography as a medium to search for answers. The first showcase of her artwork, titled "Searching, " took place in the 3rd edition of the photography exhibition 'Islam in Global' at La ArtPur in 2013. The artworks reflected the artist's emotional status at that time. For the last 10 years, Alsaidan has dedicated time and effort to explore galleries and museums locally and internationally, as well as experimenting with new techniques and materials. Since 2020, her artistic practices notably have evolved through exploring new dimensions and mediums to convert her concepts into installations.
In my artistic practice, I draw upon a decade of clinical experiences, insights, observations, and research gathered while working closely with patients on their recovery journeys. This journey has propelled me to embark on a personal quest to unravel the delicate balance among the physical, psychological, emotional, and spiritual dimensions of existence. Through a blend of academic inquiry and personal exploration, I seek to deepen my understanding of human behavior and emotions. My inspiration springs from cultivating a distinct perspective on human interaction, and I am driven by the transformation of intangible elements into tangible mediums. By utilizing a diverse range of natural materials such as sugar, fabrics, and clay, I construct narratives that explore both interpersonal and intrapersonal relationships. Each individual artwork contributes to the construction of these narratives, inviting viewers to contemplate the complexities of human connection. Through my art, I aim to provoke thought and reflection, fostering dialogue on the universal themes that bind us together.
